History
Since its foundation in 1949, ELMOTEC STATOMAT has steadily developed into a leading supplier of innovative winding technology. Together with our globally operating customers, we have continuously optimized stator production and developed new, pioneering technologies and systems. Since 2019, ELMOTEC STATOMAT has been part of the globally operating and family-owned Schaeffler group. Together, we want to continue the success story and, as Schaeffler ELMOTEC STATOMAT, make a significant contribution to a moving and sustainable future.
“Together as a team, we grow every day to meet new, exciting challenges. Innovative winding technology together with the industrialization competence of the globally operating Schaeffler Group, make us an optimal industrialization partner.“
Thomas Burst, Managing Director
Schaeffler ELMOTEC STATOMAT
The history of ELMOTEC STATOMAT starts in 1949 with the foundation of Balzer & Dröll K.G. in Niederdorfelden. At the beginning of the company history the focus was on the development and production of slot isolation machines and lacing machines.
As early as 1958, the first generation of winding and insertion machines is developed to market maturity. The Z-winder with integrated stripping unit celebrates its world premiere.
In 1980 STATOMAT launches its first fully automatic winding machine for compressor motors.
ELMOTEC was founded in 1992 and from the very beginning specialized in the development and production of stator production lines.
In 1998 the companies ELMOTEC & STATOMAT merge. The ELMOTEC STATOMAT brand emerges from the fusion.
The first joint milestone of the newly established ELMOTEC STATOMAT brand is the production and market launch of the company’s first own fully automatic stator production line.
Innovations in the field of winding technology are part of ELMOTEC STATOMAT’s DNA. Already in 2003 ELMTOEC STATOMAT files the first patents for winding and inserting of flat wires. The flat wire wave winding is the consequent advancement of the proven round wire wave winding. By using flat wires, the filling factors and thus the efficiency can be significantly increased.
The introduction of the High Speed Needle Winder (HNW) is another innovative milestone in the field of winding technology and was developed specifically for industrial and household applications.
As of 2019, ELMOTEC STATOMAT is part of the family-owned company Schaeffler Technologies. ELMOTEC STATOMAT will become Schaeffler ELMOTEC STATOMAT GmbH. The proven ELMOTEC STATOMAT brand will continue to exist.
Together with Schaeffler Special Machinery, the first fully automated stator production line for fully electric vehicles could start series production in 2021. Innovative winding technology from Schaeffler ELMOTEC STATOMAT, coupled with the many years of industrialization experience of Schaeffler Special Machinery, enables the economical realization of new drive concepts. Together, we are ready to set new standards.
